His expertise spans human rights monitoring, gender, DDR/SSR, and engagement with both state and non-state armed actors.

The Peacebuilding Initiative, in collaboration with students from the Geneva Academy, is thrilled to co-organise a landmark event, offering a rare and exclusive opportunity to preview a new documentary, The Mandate — For Whom International Law Matters, which has not been released yet, addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the failure of the international community to uphold international law and the pathways towards achieving justice. 🕊️
The director, Stefan Ziegler, who is a seasoned humanitarian advocate with 25 years of experience — including nine years working in Palestine — will join the event for a panel discussion to engage with the audience and discuss the urgent themes of the film.

The Peacebuilding Initiative is honored to participate in the Closing Ceremony of Geneva Peace Week 2024, organized by the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform and the Berghof Foundation.

Inspiring Peacemakers Series
We’re excited to announce the launch of the Inspiring Peacemakers Series at The Fab here at IHEID, in partnership with the Nagulendran Philanthropy Alliance, the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding and La Fabrique de la paix! For the first event of the year, we are honored to host two incredible peacemakers who will share their personal journeys navigating the challenging field of peacebuilding:
Natasha Latiff - Singaporean peacemaker and international human rights lawyer
Ahmed Abdullahi - Somali-Canadian peacemaker and mediator in the Horn of Africa
Together, they will address the topic: Where and how do we start our journey as young peacemakers in our violent world today?
This series builds on our successful conversations with distinguished peace mediators, such as Miriam Coronel-Ferrer and Julian Thomas Hottinger, which took place last year. The Inspiring Peacemakers Series offers a platform for our students to engage in insightful and informal discussions with leading figures in the field.
Moderated by Shruti Satish, President of the Peacebuilding Initiative, with opening remarks by Ambassador Tormod Endresen, Permanent Representative of Norway to the UN in Geneva.
